Joe Slater:

College Planner and Student-Athlete Guide

Joe has followed a path through higher education that has taken him worldwide and inside some of the premier private and public universities. During his four years working as an Operations Director and coach at the University of San Francisco and the University of the Pacific, Joe learned the ins and outs of college admissions and recruiting. Joe has gained experience in the University of California system as a Sports Administrator at UC Berkeley, assisting recruited athletes in understanding academics, applications, and student requirements. Based on experience in higher education, Joe is clear that whether a student is predominantly a scholar or predominantly an athlete, that finding the optimal fit – financial, academic, social, and emotional, can foster growth both inside and outside the classroom.

Joe thrives on working directly with students to understand their interests and find their authentic voice in the application process. Having worked on both sides of the college search process, Joe works to empower students with expert college admissions guidance to help them achieve their potential. He has a knack for making a complex, competitive, and time-consuming process exciting and rewarding for students and parents alike. Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Education. He is completing his certificate in College Counseling from UC Berkeley this year and looks forward to sharing his experience and excitement with families at The College Planning Center.

Joe, his wife, and their little one just moved to the Sacramento area and are in the process of settling into their new home.
